Why I do what I do ? Let me start off by saying I never thought that this would be my career. I went to massage school to help my husband who has been a type1 diabetic since the age of 14 years old. The more I researched about diabetic complication the more I found how massage could alleviate pain such as neuropathy. Everything I learned at NHI I came home and practiced on him and his quality of life improved.
I completed the 900-hr program and enrolled in the 450-hr Advance Neuromuscular program where I had access to cadaver labs, I got to see how muscle, tendons, ligaments and the nervous system are connected and the impact of trauma, illness, and injury. Working with military members adjusting to prosthetics and phantom pain was a life changer. Its where I saw massage becoming my purpose. Its been six years since I started this journey. I have helped people of all walks of life but where I excel is working with athletes.
Helping athletes recover from pain and/or injury allowing their bodies to get back to their sport is so rewarding. One of the repeated things I hear retired athletes say to me is I wish I would taken better care of my body when I was young, I could have played my sport longer. When I work on younger athletes, I instill the importance of massage as part of the regiment in maintaining the entire body in better physical condition as well as pass on the regret of those that came before them. Collaborating with other professionals creating healing protocols that increase muscle strength, flexibility and range of motion. giving athletes a competitive edge is where my career is focused.
I seek perfection in my craft continuing education in the field of massage keeps me in a constant state of growth. I look forward to working together!
